A method of separating vertebrae in the neck and back, and stretching spinal muscles, ligaments, and joint capsules. Spinal traction is used to treat whiplash and certain other spinal conditions, such as degenerative joint disease and joint hypomobility It may be performed by manipulation or mechanically. The long-term resolution of spinal problems usually requires special exercises, and posture modification.
