Pas de deux with choreography by A. Messerer and music by Rachmaninoff. Premiered in 1953 at the Bolshoi School's annual performance, the Bolshoi Theatre, with Natalia Filippova and Evgeny Kuzmin. This setting of Rachmaninoff's Spring Waters Op. 14 No. 11, is roughly two minutes in length and is one of the shortest but most concentrated pieces in the ballet repertory. It was created to showcase the virtuoso partnerwork of the Soviet school and has become a favourite gala divertissement both in Russia and abroad.
