Quick Reference
Commodities that are available for immediate delivery, as opposed to futures (see futures contract) in which deliveries are arranged for named months in the future. The price of spot goods, the spot price, is usually higher than the forward price, unless there is a glut of that particular commodity but an expected shortage in the future.
