A category of late Vedic texts, classified as belonging to (or synonymous with) the Kalpasūtra literature of the Vedāṅga (and therefore as smṛti), which deals with the detailed (and, according to some, idealized) rules for the proper performance of śrauta ritual (śrauta-yajña). The earliest text of this type (and the earliest sūtra text of any kind) is that of Baudāyana.
