[E. C. Stafne (1894–1981), American oral pathologist] A developmental depression on the lingual surface of the mandible near the lower border which may appear radiographically as a radiolucency. It frequently contains salivary gland tissue such as the submandibular salivary gland. It is asymptomatic and no intervention is required.
