A genetically heterogeneous neurologic disorder (hyperekplexia with epilepsy) in which there is muscular rigidity of central nervous system origin, particularly in the neonatal period, and by an exaggerated startle response to unexpected acoustic or tactile stimuli. Can be caused by mutation in collybistin.
