Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A periodic tenancy that comes into operation on the expiration of an assured tenancy for a fixed term unless that tenancy is terminated by a court order or surrender of the tenancy. The statutory periodic tenancy is on the same terms as the fixed term tenancy before it expired, except for the condition for terminating the tenancy at the end of the term. However, the landlord or tenant can apply to a rent assessment committee to vary the terms of the tenancy. See also assured shorthold tenancy.
