Quick Reference

A type of virus which attempts to nullify or confuse any attempt to detect it. It does this by infecting the code of the computer that could be used by virus detection software so that this code does not spot the presence of the virus. For example, a number of stealth viruses infect the code used for reading the contents of files so that they ignore the presence of a virus in a file.
