American architect. He collaborated with Eckbo and Neutra before settling (1952) in India. He designed several buildings in Lodhi Park, New Delhi, e.g. International Centre (1959–62), Ford Foundation (1965–8), and UNICEF building (1978–81). In 1977 he formed a partnership with Doshi, and designed the Kashmir Conference Centre, Srinagar (1977–89), in which certain vernacular themes are apparent.
