Carmelite nun. Of Jewish family, she studied under E. Husserl and became a leading figure in the Phenomenological School. She became a RC in 1922 and tried to interpret Phenomenology from a Thomist standpoint. She joined the Carmelites in 1934. She was put to death by the Nazis in a gas chamber at Auschwitz. Feast day, 9 Aug.
