(1772–1844), frontier evangelist who seceded from the Presbyterian church (1804). He and his associates called themselves simply “Christians,” and acknowledged no creed but the Bible. In 1832 they united with the Disciples of Christ of Alexander Campbell. In addition to theological treatises, Stone wrote an autobiography (1847).
