German Nazi leader and propagandist. Originally a school-teacher, he expounded his anti-Semitic views in his periodical Der Stürmer. He was Party leader (Gauleiter) in Franconia (1933–40), and continued to function as a propagandist. He was sentenced to death at the Nuremberg Trials and subsequently hanged.
