Any lipids that contains sulphur, although the term is usually used for sulphate esters of glycolipids. Sulpholipid-1 (SL-1) in the cell wall of Mycobacterium tuberculosis is a glycolipid antigenic marker used in diagnosis. Sulpholipid immobilizing protein 1 (SLIP1) is a conserved plasma membrane protein (68 kDa), involved in sperm–zona pellucida binding (but see SLIP1).
