Sp. mezzo‐soprano and mezzo‐contralto. Début at 14 in Buenos Aires (in Stiattesi's Blanca de Beaulieu). Chicago Opera 1915–16 and 1932–3; La Scala début 1926; CG 1934–5. Created title‐role in Lehár's Frasquita (1922). Singer of vivacious originality, with distinctive timbre.
