A form of Śiva, popular in Kashmir since the medieval period. Originally the focus of the Tantric mantrapīṭha (‘seat of mantras’) cult of Kāpālika Śaivism, formulated in the Svacchandabhairava Tantra (a subdivision of the Bhairava Tantras), he is visualized as a five-faced, eighteen-armed figure, accompanied by his consort in a circle of cremation grounds.
