A condition in which adjacent digits are joined, either by soft tissue webbing or by fusion of some bones. Synpolydactyly-1 (SPD1) is caused by mutation in the HOXD13 gene, synpolydactyly-2 by mutation in the fibulin-1 gene, and SPD3 by a different mutation that has been mapped to chromosome 14q11.2-q12.
