American sculptor and installation artist. Born in Boston, she lives in New York. She creates installations made from delicately balanced accumulations of household objects. The critic Eliza Williams describes the effect as ‘inviting the viewer to look closely but certainly not touch—for fear of bringing the entire ensemble crashing to the ground’ (Art Monthly, November 2007). These installations are usually achieved on site. Her public project Corner Plot commissioned by the Public Art Fund was mounted in a plaza outside Central Park, New York, in 2006. It appeared that a building identical in design to a nearby white brick apartment block had sunk into the pavement. Through the windows could be seen an interior vista which appeared to have been colonized by objects.
