Quick Reference

A group of neuropeptide hormones encoded by two genes, one encoding a precursor containing both substance P and neurokinin A (formerly substance K), the other encoding a precursor containing only neurokinin B. All have ten or eleven residues with a common -FXGLM-NH2 ending. They have effects similar to bradykinin and serotonin and act on a range of tissues.
