Chinese dancer. She studied at the Shanghai Ballet School and the John Cranko School in Stuttgart, joining San Francisco Ballet in 1995 and promoted to principal in 1997. A delicately built dancer possessing a steely technical clarity she performs most of the classical repertory but has also created roles in works by Possokhov, Wheeldon, Tomasson, and S. Welch. She additionally guests with Hong Kong Ballet, and is celebrated in China as that country's leading native ballerina.
