Trust. Refers to the Sufi practice of complete self-abandonment in God in order to do His will. Also indicates the Sufi's total reliance on God to provide for daily needs. Sufis traditionally state that a Sufi should be like a corpse in the hands of God, without resistance to the divine will. Such trust leads to a state of tranquility, which precedes contentment and illumination. Tawakkul is achieved through training, guidance, submission to the shaykh of the order, dhikr, and/or sama.
