A violent, squally, northerly or north-easterly wind in the Gulf of Tehuantepec on the Pacific coast of southern Mexico. It originates as a norther in the Gulf of Mexico and crosses the isthmus in the gap between the Sierra Madre del Sur and the Guatemalan mountains. See also papagayo.
