Fictional mode of change of place in which a person ‘dematerializes’ at one place, and emerges at another. The thought experiment of imagining such cases has a place in the philosophy of personal identity, since if we concede that teleportation involves no contradiction, then we seem to think of our identity as potentially distinct from bodily continuity.
