Licensable activity including the sale of alcohol, by unlicensed persons and on unlicensed premises, which is permitted if it is an event at which not more than 500 people will attend and will not last for more than 96 hours (Licensing Act 2003). The person wishing to organize such an event must serve a temporary event notice on the licensing authority. A person who does not hold a licence can stage five such events per year and a licensed person can stage 50. A venue can only hold twelve such events in a year. The police can object to an event on the grounds of crime prevention.
