Generally, the bipolar myosin-II filaments (12–14 nm diameter, 1.6 μm long) in the sarcomeres of striated muscle, although may refer to myosin filaments elsewhere. The axis of the filament comprises antiparallel light meromyosin (LMM) with the myosin heads projecting in a regular fashion at the ends and a central bare zone.
