Quick Reference

Thompson’s most notable acquisition was of the Ashburnham ‘Appendix’, much of which he subsequently sold, limiting his collection to 100 illuminated MSS. Many of these were sold in a series of book auctions at Sotheby's, mainly between 1919 and 1921. His wife bequeathed 46 MSS to the British Museum (seebritish library) that now form the Yates Thompson collection.
