three-axis stabilization

Quick Reference

A control of the attitude of a spacecraft by stabilization of its X, Y, and Z axes. This can be done using small thrusters to rock the craft slowly back and forth, as with the two Voyager space probes since 1977. Another method is the use of momentum wheels, which steady a spacecraft even further, necessary when instruments are making observations.
