An email address which is used to receive unwanted emails. One way to minimize the amount of spam received is to use such an address when posting to a newsgroup. Spammers who use address harvesters would pick up this address and then direct spam mail to it. If email directed to this address is never read, then, theoretically, there is no problem with spam. After a time any emails to this address are deleted by the Internet service provider which normally uses programs to release file space from user accounts with unread mail that has been in existence for some time. With the increase in the number of providers supplying multiple email addresses this has become a feasible way of handling unwanted email.
