Quick Reference

A rocket thrust control system on the space shuttle. During a launch, the system controls the attitude and trajectory by swivelling the rocket nozzles to direct the thrust. This involves the three main engines and two solid rocket boosters during lift-off and the first-stage ascent, and then only the main engines during the second-stage ascent. TVC is part of the shuttle's flight control system (FCS).
