A collection of twelve small charts covering the same area, each showing the direction of the tidal streams in the area for an hour while the tide rises or falls at a standard port, in Britain usually Dover. The directions are shown by arrows, figures against the arrows indicating the speed in knots. Where only one figure is given, it indicates the rate at springs; where two figures are given, the higher is the spring rate, the lower is the rate at neaps. Tidal atlases are included in some nautical almanacs, and many are published separately.
