Quick Reference

A protein (TRF1-interacting nuclear factor-2, 354 aa) recruited to the shelterin complex through interaction with telomeric repeat binding factor 1 (TRF1) and thought to be a negative regulator of telomerase length. Mutations can be one cause of dyskeratosis congenita. TIN2-interacting protein (POT1- and TIN2-organizing protein, PTOP, 544 aa) blocks the interaction of POT1 with telomeres and allows telomere extension.
