The movement which occurs when a point source is applied to a tooth. It combines rotational movement with a horizontal translation of the tooth. It is the only type of tooth movement that a removable orthodontic appliance can bring about. The force required may be as low as 30–60gm, causing rotation at a point near the junction of the middle and apical third of the root.
