Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

An integral membrane glycoprotein (CD142, 263 aa) that is normally segregated from the blood but can be exposed after tissue injury. Tissue factor binds factor VII and initiates the extrinsic clotting mechanism by conversion of factor VII to enzymatically active factor VIIa which activates factors X and IX and prothrombin and leads to the formation of fibrin. Tissue factor pathway inhibitor (lipoprotein-associated coagulation inhibitor, 304 aa) is a protease inhibitor that inhibits factor Xa, and the factor VIIa–tissue factor catalytic complex.
