Quick Reference

A collection of 24 canons endorsed by a Roman synod (probably in 377) and sent by Pope Damasus to Paulinus, then recognized in Rome as the legitimate Bp. of Antioch. Twenty-three of them are dogmatic, anathematizing the main Trinitarian and Christological heresies of the 4th cent. The ninth, condemning the translation of bishops, was directed against Melitius of Antioch.
