Is someone who delivers formal training and development to workers within an employing organization. Trainers are often themselves trained and work professionally in this role. This will be true of training officers within a training department or consultants who are hired to provide training. Not all trainers are professionals, however, and in many organizations, the task of training employees is given to co-workers or to line managers. It is good practice for non-dedicated trainers of this type to be prepared for their training role but this is not always the case. [See sitting-with-Nellie.]
