A String Sextet by Schoenberg, written in 1899, it has inspired several ballets, among them Tudor's Pillar of Fire (Ballet Theatre, New York, 1942), Kylián's Transfigured Night (Nederlands Dans Theater, 1975), and Petit's La Nuit transfigurée (Paris Opera, 1976). It has also been used in the scores of Graeme Murphy's Shades of Gray (2004) and de Keersmaeker's Woud (1995).
