Chertsey, Surrey, 10 July 1989) Comedian who appeared in regional variety during the 1920s before starting in a long run of revues, including Band Wagon (1939), Best Bib and Tucker (1942), Fancy Free (1951) and United Notions (1956). He worked extensively on television, hosted Sunday Night at the London Palladium, and served as chairman of the Fulham Football Club for many years.
