The site on the tRNA molecule that is bound to the aminoacetyl synthetase. In the case of yeast phenylalanine tRNA, this region is located adjacent to the dihydrouridine loop and consists of the four nucleotide pairs bracketed by arrows on the tRNA on page 397.
