The response threshold of a single fibre of an auditory nerve, plotted as a function of the frequencies of the sounds to which it responds, the point at which the threshold is lowest, and therefore the responsiveness greatest, being the characteristic frequency of the fibre. Also called the frequency tuning curve or frequency threshold curve (FTC).
