A cloth, preserved since 1578 in Turin Cathedral in Italy, which is venerated as the shroud in which Jesus Christ was buried, although its history can be traced with certainty only to 1354. In 1988 radiocarbon dating indicated that it had been woven from 13th‐ or 14th‐century flax, but the test results have since been disputed.
