Turner's tooth

[J. G. Turner (1870–1955), English dentist] n. An area of localized enamel hypoplasia on a permanent tooth usually resulting in an area of white or yellow discoloration. It may be caused by trauma to an associated primary tooth or due to a primary tooth with a periapical inflammatory lesion; the result is a disturbance in the enamel formation (amelogenesis) of the developing unerupted permanent tooth. The labial surface is the most likely surface affected.
