Quick Reference

The point on the Hertzsprung–Russell diagram at which members of a star cluster leave the main sequence. Since all the stars of a particular cluster were formed more or less simultaneously, the most massive of them will leave the main sequence first. The location of the turnoff points allows the age of the cluster to be calculated.
