Quick Reference

A meeting between tutor and one or more students (sometimes referred to as tutees) which focuses on some aspect of the students' learning or assessment. They are an integral part of higher education provision, but are also used in further education and in some schools. In terms of time and resources, tutorials are considered costly because they normally involve tutors working with relatively small numbers of students. Perhaps for this reason, the inclusion of extensive tutorial support in students' timetables is becoming increasingly problematic in some higher education departments.
