Writer and translator whose The Pattern of Painful Adventures, registered in 1576, provided Shakespeare with a source for Pericles. An edition of 1607 may have drawn Shakespeare's attention to the subject. The book also had a direct influence on George Wilkins's The Painful Adventures of Pericles Prince of Tyre (1608).
