Overview

tyrphostin

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

Small-molecule inhibitors of tyrosine kinases derived from the naturally occurring erbstatin. They competitively inhibit substrate binding without affecting the binding of ATP. Tyrphostin A25 inhibits the GTPase activity of transducin, blocks the induction of inducible nitric oxide synthase in glial cells and induces apoptosis in human leukaemic cell lines. Various other tyrphostins have different specificities.
