martyr. This Englishman was one of those who evangelized Sweden like Sigfrid and others. After considerable success he met his end after attacking idolatry and breaking up a statue of Thor with an axe. He was then lynched by the crowd who witnessed this, and his body was thrown into a marsh. Feast: 18 January.
