All unilateralists have opposed British nuclear weapons, arguing inter alia that they are unnecessary for national security, positively destabilizing to international security, a bar on progress in disarmament, or immoral.

The most important unilateralist organization has been the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND).
