Opposite to the direction of maximum vertical wind shear, generally relative to the main convective circulation (i.e. updraught). When wind shear is present, cumulus clouds, for example, exhibit upshear tilt. Back-building cumulonimbus anvils extend on the upshear side. See also downshear.
