Is the process of increasing the number of employees after having previously undertaken downsizing. The need for upsizing occurs when an organization has gone through a dramatic process of reducing headcount in order to lower costs, only to find that it has gone too far. In particular, this can occur where employees are the means through which an organization can increase its revenue—for example, by getting more contracts. So upsizing can be seen as the process of reversing the negative effects of downsizing.
