Excessive accumulation of urea and other nitrogenous end products, notably creatinine, in the blood, as a consequence of advanced renal or circulatory failure. The usual natural course is lethargy, convulsions, coma, and death, unless the toxic accumulation of nitrogenous metabolic products is reversed by dialysis or renal transplant.
