Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A family of proteins found in the asymmetric unit membrane (AUM) of mammalian bladder transitional epithelium (urothelium) where they probably have a mechanical stabilizing function. The major proteins are uroplakins (UPK) 1A (260 aa), 1B, 2, and 3, with uroplakin 3B (p35) as a minor component. Mutations in UPK3A are associated with renal adysplasia (see Potter's syndrome).
